SYNS is efficient due to its autonomous and streamlined organization. The board consists of a chairperson, a vice-chairperson, and a coordinator for spine courses.

The board organizes courses, ensures sustainable financing, and represents the members both nationally and internationally. Members elect the chairperson for a three-year term. Former board members are invited to serve on the advisory board. The organization is entirely run by SYNS members on a voluntary basis, keeping costs low and making courses particularly accessible to younger resident doctors. All neurosurgery residents in Switzerland can become members, provided they hold a junior membership in the national society SSNS.
