SYNS Courses

The SYNS offers up to four annual training courses and serves as an open platform for resident doctors to exchange experiences and represent their interests at national and international levels.

Cervical Spine Course 2024

The cervical spine course will take place in Geneva, at Swiss Foundation for Innovation and Training in Surgery (SFITS), a modern lab created for surgical training, research and innovation.

The course is a cadaver lab designed for young and advanced residents who want to learn and practice cervical spine surgery.

There will be 4 stations with 12 participants and everyone will have the possibility to practice.

You will have also the opportunity to discover a wonderful internation city as Geneva is.

Craniotomy Course 2024

Which approach? Neurosurgical supra- and infratentorial approaches: Anatomy, Landmarks, Hands-on sessions at the 10th SYNS Craniotomy Course in Bern.

Symposium 2024

Focused talks on fundamentals of up-to-date spine surgery for residents and young consultants, explained by a top-class faculty!

The annual meeting is intended to provide a platform for teaching and exchange for residents as well as young consultants from Switzerland and abroad.

This year's symposium will extensively cover the whole spectrum of spine surgery, and is to be held on September 27th - 29th, 2024, at the The Swiss Paraplegic Centre (SPC), Nottwil and in Hotel & Conference Center Sempachersee.

The "Mock-exam session", which will be organised again on Sunday morning for the brave who want to prepare for the FMH oral exam (only 4 spots available!).

Endoscopy Course 2024

Hybrid cadaver & model course on cranial and spinal neuroendoscopy.

You will have the opportunity to learn the basics of trans-cranial, trans-nasal and spinal endoscopic procedures on cadavers and models.

Places are limited to 12 participants for the spinal part (on June 25th ) and to 10 participants for the cranial part (on June 26th ). 

During the spinal part, 6 participants will do monoportal endoscopy and 6 participants will do biportal endoscopy.
